AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS
In addition to tutoring, MPYD sponsors after-school makeup classes in which Mentors assist Muir teachers to reduce the student-teacher ratio. The MPYD Coordinator as well as some indvidual Mentors will collaborate with participating students' teachers to ensure that the progress of each student is being monitored on an ongoing basis. The MPYD Coordinator:
♦ Sends copies of students' grades to their Mentors after each grading period
♦ Makes home visits and/or visits with the parents of any MPYD student as situations warrant
♦ Schedules and meets with MPYD students' counselors as needs dictate, gets copies of students' progress reports and conferences with them to review grades received
♦ Sends letters to parents strongly recommending they make tutoring mandatory when grades indicate they need help
♦ Gives feedback to parents relative to the quality of their students' participation in tutoring
