| Camps and Outings
Mentors accompany participating students to sporting events, on college and university visits, field trips, and to cultural activities.
Mentors also serve as chaperones on scheduled multi-day camping events that are designed to teach goal setting, planning, team-building, perseverance and to make participating students more aware of the positive inner feelings one gets from goal accomplishment. Camps also provide mentors extended periods of time in which to interact with the students they are mentoring. For some students, the camps serve to remove them for a time from dysfunctional social environments to make them more aware of alternative social settings and how they may be successful in making choices that are in their self-interest.
