Gene Campbell
Gene Campbell

Gene Campbell retired from the Metropolitan Transit Authority in 1997.  Shortly after his retirement, Gene began volunteering as a mentor at Pasadena Unified School District's Franklin Elementary School. Soon afterwards, then- principal Dr. Eddie Newman urged Gene and other voluteers to participate in a much-needed effort to help supervise and provide guidance to the male student population at Muir.  He is one of the founding members of what has become the Mentoring and Partnership for Youth Development program.

Gene has been active in the growth of MPYD's programs and activities.  He has coordinated MPYD volunteer activities, officially mentored a number of MPYD enrollees, and chaperoned MPYD outings. He is currently the president and chairperson of the executive board of MPYD. Previously he served as vice president.

Gene and his wife have been married for 42 years. They are the parents and grandparents of Muir graduates. Quite naturally then he would want to continue contributing to the Mustang community.
