Lunch with the Future

We had the privilege of welcoming Kian Farin from the California Science Center Foundation 🌍, along with MPYD’s Chief Executive Officer, Tecumseh Shackelford, as guest speakers for our young men.

Mr. Farin shared insights about his work at the Science Center and walked our young men through one of the most fascinating projects he has ever worked on. He recently traveled to the Arctic Circle ❄️, where he spent three months filming orcas 🐋 for a Disney documentary. He also answered thoughtful questions about the animals at the Science Center and provided valuable resources for those interested in pursuing a similar career path.

Mr. Shackelford spoke about the origins of MPYD, how and why the program began, and reflected on how much John Muir High School has changed since then 🎓. He credited Dr. Gray for transforming the school’s culture and emphasized the importance of staying focused on academics while avoiding the traps of violence and negativity.
