MPYD Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Greetings, Friends and Family! ⭐️🎉

Last week, as we wrapped up Hispanic Heritage Month, we had the pleasure of welcoming John Muir High School’s very own Alfredo Resendiz to speak with our young men! 👏🏽

Mr. Resendiz shared his experiences growing up in Pasadena and what it has been like to continue living in the community as an adult. He discussed how expensive Pasadena has become, explaining that many of his high school friends have since moved to the Inland Empire or Arizona. He also spoke about the bubble our young men are currently in, reminding them not to take their current opportunities and support systems for granted. He encouraged them to understand that life after high school comes with new responsibilities and that they must learn to advocate for themselves and work hard to achieve their goals. 💡

To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we also enjoyed a catered meal from El Metate, featuring tacos, enchiladas, rice, and beans! 🌮

Our young men were attentive and engaged throughout the presentation, and we are truly grateful to Mr. Resendiz for taking the time to share his experiences and valuable words of wisdom with MPYD!
